2 Simple Ways to Get Your Data Even If Your OS gets Corrupt or Stops Working !!

Yesterday I downloaded a software, As I started it nothing happened then I started it As Administrator Still nothing happened. So I deleted that !!

But After I started my browser and tried to find another software like that I seen that all my Google Search results are getting redirected to another advertisement sites, I thought the problem is with the sites or my ISP, So I ignored it as sites are working if I type them manually in Address bar.

But even after few hours the problem is still consistent, Then I thought this must be happening because of that software I run, Maybe its has virus or It was a virus itself.

So, I quickly Disconnected my Internet and started a Full System Scan and the antivirus found that virus, I chosen the option “remove with restart”

……………..

Even after a Longtime System did not started !! So I taken it to Service Center and they told that, Only a possible solution is to Reinstall Operating System Again.

But even after the Operating  System got reinstall I lost almost nothing, But how ? Lets See :

I am a Web & WordPress Developer so I use lots of Software like Adobe Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver, Corel Draw and Many more.

So, I saved all my Data and Softwares in 2 Simple Step :

1). Making Backup on External Drive or Disc or Pen Drive or Something else

There can not be a better solution than this but I don’t use this much, as I make changes in documents and files very frequently and I also run some Video and audio related sites so I have 100s of GB Data on my Desktop and Downloads Folder, So Its not possible to make backup every hour or even every day.

So, I save installers of all softwares on my external drive and their setting files as well which can be done by exporting the settings from software.

2). Change the default location of Desktop & Download Folder, Best Way !

Default location of Desktop and Download folder is in “C:\” Drive in which OS also resides, So when OS gets Corrupt Those folders also becomes inaccessible and I think most people save Important Documents either on Desktop or in Downloads Folder.

So, It will be the very good way if we move the default location of these folders to any other partition of drive or to any other external drive, so it will be safe even if we format C:\ drive.

I use Windows 7 now So I am going to tell you how change the default location in Windows 7, In past I used Vista and XP but then I was not knowing about this and thats why I was in problem many times.

Here is how you can change it finally:-

Step 1. Paste this in your windows explorer location bar and hit enter

C:/Users/%username%/

Step 2. Look for Desktop Folder and Right Click it and Choose Properties at the bottom.

Step 3. In the new Choose Location Tab from Top of the window.

Step 4. Now Click on Move Button

Step 5. Navigate to the another Partition or any other location where you want to move the folder

Step 6. Now Right click at any blank space and Navigate to New > Folder to create a new folder

Step 7. Now Double click the New Folder you just created to go into that.

Step 8. And Click Select Folder button

Step 9. Now you will see the new location where the Desktop folder will be moved.

Step 10. Now, Click OK Button

Step 11. In the Move Folder Pop Up Click Yes Button.

And thats all You are done! Your Folder moved to new location, You can apply the same steps on Download folder also to move it to new location.

Even there is no trick in article, but I will recommend you to make a Restore Point before to be on safe side.
