4 Reasons to Donate to Wikipedia

Wikipedia the worlds 6th largest and most visited site on the Internet serving for free and giving knowledge what is also known as power and that’s the reason they want support and you should do support as much as you can.

According to a report published at Business Insider it costs somewhere around $18,500,500 yearly to run Wikipedia and now you can think how they manage it without showing any advertisement or selling anything for profit or making money in any terms.

Just know that Wikipedia comes under Wikimedia Foundation founded by Jimmy Wales the guy you can see asking for donation to run Wikipedia also running 10 similar services (including Wiktionary, Wikiquote, Wikibooks, Wikisource, Wikispecies, Wikinews, Wikiversity, Wikimedia Commons, and MediaWiki) and all for free to support peoples around the world to gain knowledge and that’s why you should support and donate this foundation for finding and enjoying hassle free information to the next generation where they will not be able to live without sites like Google, Facebook and ofcourse Wikipedia.

You should also know that Wikimedia Foundation working on mobile site where they will try to provide the overall content at lightning fast speed and even without paying for bandwidth.

Reasons to Support Wikipedia and Wikimedia Foundation

#1. To take free information

Due to availability of high quality articles and information on almost anything you seeks in your daily life where Wikipedia can charge a lot but founders vision and holy thinking make it free for all and also not earning by showing advertisement slots like other sites what becomes main source of income for any website or blog because of the founders thinking that advertisement will lead readers attention away from their finding and reading or you can say will distract readers attention.

To enjoy and gift Wikipedia services as it is (means free) to your kids please support by donating to Wikipedia Foundation to make our life more happier specially in getting information on what we can really trust.

#2. To keep it running

As mentioned above that Wikipedia requires around $18,500,500 for annual overheads on the stuffs like webhosting, softwares, promotion, collaborations, expansion and most important paying to it’s team of around 100 peoples.

So fill the financial gap with your little donation because these guys don’t have other way to earn or any other famous company that can give support behind this social service.

#3. To gain more flexibility over information

Just imagine and open Wikipedia in around 2020 for getting some information and then you will have access to know about your search term in different options like videos, audios or even direct contact with experts and again that’s all will be for free.

#4. For typing Wikipedia before Google

It’s really amazing that Wikipedia is at no.6 even it don’t makes money in any form of serving or showing advertisement like Google what is itself the biggest producer of online advertisement era and attracts most of money that goes online.

So you can calculate how important the Wikipedia is just by serving in limitations due to financial weakness and what will happen when almost all the user of Wikipedia will donate as per their will no doubt that day will come when we will directly go to type our term in the Wikipedia search box instead of Google Search for judging for best in between millions of pages.

Whenever I want to plan anything new, I open wikipedia for basic concepts. And also if you observe, if you type some keywords in google, the top results will be from wikipedia. :)

If google not gives wikipedia page then I adds “wiki” after my search term to get wikipedia article on that topic because I know it is the only place anyone can trust on the information.

And that’s the reason I am on the other side and motivating peoples for donating Wikipedia.

I think it’s horrible if we imagine our research work without wikipedia
and due to a heavy cost we all should also support to save this valuable place.
