Unlike most of Europe, Russia is growing, economically. While large countries struggle with a debt crisis, Russia’s GDP-per-capita growth has been 13 percent annually from 1999 through 2010. GDP is a measure of the market value of all of the goods and services in a country. GDP-per-capita is recognized as a country’s effective standard of living. While GDP growth in Russia has slowed to 3.7 percent this in 2012, its historical growth rate has made its citizens better off than many neighboring countries. Russian citizens has money to spend. Not only that, Russia’s debt-to-GDP is projected to be just 15.7 percent by the end of 2014. That kind of debt load makes Russia a very safe place to park a business, from a financial perspective.
